Domestic Violence Issues
Domestic violence is also know as domestic abuse or spousal abuse. It occurs when family member, partner or ex-partner attempts to physically or psychologically dominate another. Violence between spouses, or spousal abuse also includes cohabitants and non-married intimate partners.
It is found in all cultures, people of all races, ethnicities, religions, sexes and classes. Perpetrated by both men and women.
There are many forms:
- physical violence
- sexual abuse
- emotional abuse
- intimidation
- economic deprivation
- threats of violence
There is now some advocacy for men as victims.
It shouldn't happen to anybody, ever, but it does. Coping with an abusive relationship is hard. Learning to protect yourself is a must. The pattern must be broken so the abuse is stopped.
Laws are changing that deal with domestic violence. They are making it easier for the victims to get help through the legal systems. If you need help, we are available and ready to work with you on taking the next step.
